CALL FOR PAPERS
THE NINETEENTH ANNUAL UTAH WINTER FINANCE CONFERENCE
February 5-7, 2009

The Nineteenth Annual Utah Winter Finance Conference will be held February 5-7, 2009. The opening
reception begins Wednesday evening, February 4th. (Note: Location and format will be the same as the previous
UWFCs.)
You are invited to submit papers on any topic in financial economics for the 2009 UWFC. Papers will be reviewed
for selection by the review committee in a double-blind referee process. Only ten papers are selected for the
UWFC each year. The deadline for submission is:
September 19, 2008
PARTNERSHIP UWFC and RFS:
The Utah Winter Finance Conference and the Review of Financial Studies announce a combined submission process.
At your choice, your paper submitted to the UWFC also will be considered for publication by the Review of Financial
Studies free of charge. Please see our website for the rules for submitting your paper to the RFS.
ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION:
Paper must be submitted by September 19, 2008. Please submit your paper under the SUBMITTERS menu option above.
Authors will be notified of paper selection in early December 2008.
BEST PAPER AWARD:
There is a $5,000 best paper award. The best paper is selected by a vote of the participants at the end of the
last session.
SHMUEL KANDEL AWARD FOR DOCTORAL STUDENTS:
The Utah Winter Finance Conference announces two new awards to outstanding PhD students in financial economics
honoring the memory of Shmuel Kandel. A prize of $2,500 will be awarded to an outstanding international PhD
student in the dissertation writing stage and a prize of $1,500 will be awarded to a PhD student writing a
dissertation in financial economics at a North American University. Both students will attend the UWFC and
will participate in the Student Utah Winter Finance Conference (SUWFC) held the Friday following the UWFC at
the University of Utah.
Interested students should submit a completed paper (the paper will not be considered for the UWFC program,
but student can submit to the conference separately) and two letters of recommendation from their committee
members. The submission will be done directly on our web site:

The submission deadline has been extended to August 29, 2008 and the winners will be announced by September 15th 2008.
